Transfer: 5 Super Eagles stars who could join Galatasaray this summer

Published on by

The summer transfer window is open, and some Super Eagles stars have been the subject of a lot of speculation, Afrik-Foot reports.

This is the period when clubs shape and reshape their squads for the new season. One such club is the Turkish Süper Lig champions, Galatasaray.

The reigning Turkish champions need to revamp their midfield, add quality to their defence, and shore up the attack.

Interestingly, some of the players they have been linked to are Nigerian. In this article, Afrik-Foot writes about five Nigerian players whom the Cimbom could sign this summer.

Onyedika

The Super Eagles star has been continually linked with the Turkish Süper Lig, and this summer is no different. There has been speculation about a possible move to Istanbul, especially as the Nigerian midfielder has just one year left on his contract, which makes a transfer look very feasible.

Galatasaray desperately need midfielders, as they have only five options in the engine room, and three of them are in their 30s.

Club Brugge know they must sell the 25-year-old this summer or lose him for free next year.

Anthony Dennis

As stated earlier, Galatasaray lack bodies in midfield, especially for a club that will be contesting for trophies. Consequently, they are expected to sign at least two midfielders this summer.

Dennis has been consistently linked to the Cimbom since last year due to his impressive performances at Göztepe.

This summer looks like it will definitely be his last at Göztepe, as he has refused to sign a new deal. Dennis comes in as a Süper Lig-ready player. He is also quite affordable, as Göztepe would likely sell for below €10 million.

However, he has suitors from Coventry City, Anderlecht, and other clubs, so he has a big decision to make.

Tolu Arokodare

This summer, the Cimbom parted ways with Argentine striker Mauro Icardi. This means that they need to sign a new striker.

There are not many top marksmen who would be willing to play behind someone like Victor Osimhen, but Tolu Arokodare, who had a tough campaign at Wolves, is an option they are looking at.

He is big, strong, and a good team player. Arokodare would be a fine addition for the Cimbom; they just have to find the right price.

Emmanuel Fernandez

Emmanuel Fernandez is one of the hottest prospects in the transfer market right now. He has been linked to several clubs in Europe following his impressive campaign at Rangers.

Galatasaray also joined the race recently. They are expected to part ways with Davinson Sanchez this summer, and Fernandez is a top option as a replacement.

The Nigerian is solid, technically gifted, and goes about his job with ease. Rangers want as much as €30 million before they let him leave.

Lesley Ugochukwu

The 22-year-old midfielder is one of the top names on the Cimbom’s transfer wishlist. He is currently at Burnley, but reports suggest that a move to Galatasaray could happen soon.

He has had time at Rennes, Chelsea, Southampton, and now Burnley. Ugochukwu is currently valued at €22 million on Transfermarkt, and since he has four years left on his deal, Burnley would definitely demand significantly more.

Ugochukwu has Nigerian parents, but he is currently a French youth player. Nonetheless, he can still switch allegiances to Nigeria since he is yet to play for Les Bleus.
