Report: Troyes to battle Partizan Belgrade for Super Eagles star

Published on by

Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi is facing an uncertain future ahead of the summer transfer window with doubts over his next club, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 27-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan at FC Porto after joining the Portuguese giants during the January transfer window from Nice. Although he helped the club win the league title, Porto are not expected to activate the option to sign him permanently this summer.

Moffi scored just twice across all competitions, once in the Europa League and once in the Portuguese league. Despite still being under contract with Nice, the Super Eagles striker is also not expected to return to the French side.

Before his move to Porto, Moffi had been part of the Nice squad since joining the club in 2024, but his relationship with the club deteriorated last year after he was assaulted alongside some of his teammates by some sections of the club’s supporters.

With his loan spell at Porto now over and no clear route back into the Nice squad, especially after the club’s co-president Maurice Cohen ruled out a return, Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi is now expected to join a new club before next season.

According to reports, newly promoted Ligue 1 side Troyes are among the clubs interested in signing the striker ahead of the new campaign. ESTAC secured promotion back to the French top flight and are eager to strengthen their squad as they aim to avoid an immediate return to the second division.

Moffi is believed to fit the profile Troyes are searching for due to his previous Ligue 1 experience with both FC Lorient and Nice and his experience at the highest level could also prove valuable as the club looks to establish itself back in the top division.

Meanwhile, Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade are also monitoring the situation closely ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Black-Whites have not won a major trophy since lifting the Serbian Cup during the 2018-19 season and are hoping to strengthen their squad enough to challenge rivals Red Star Belgrade more seriously next season.

According to Transfermarkt, the Super Eagles forward is currently valued at around €10 million. With both player and club seemingly ready to part ways, Nice could be willing to accept a reduced fee despite signing him for around €30 million in 2023.

Although Troyes and Partizan are currently leading the race, more clubs could still enter the picture before the transfer window closes. What appears certain, however, is that Moffi will be playing for a new club next season.

For now, the striker’s focus shifts to the 2026 Unity Cup, where the Super Eagles begin their campaign against Zimbabwe later today.

Moffi is expected to play an important role during the tournament in the absence of Victor Osimhen and will also be hoping for more opportunities in next month’s friendly matches against Poland and Portugal, before making a final decision on his club future.
