Super Eagles forward Umar Sadiq rescued Valencia last time out against Elche, and coach Javier Aguirre has given him the same task ahead of tomorrow’s La Liga showdown with Real Madrid.
Sadiq returned from a hamstring injury that kept him out for nearly two months and scored the winning goal in Valencia’s 1-0 win over Elche last Sunday.
His timely contribution ended Valencia’s wait for a first victory under Aguirre, and the Nigerian could have another important role to play when Real Madrid visit Mestalla.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the Mexican coach expressed his satisfaction with Sadiq and revealed what makes the forward stand out, while hoping he can produce another impressive moment against Jose Mourinho’s side.

2 Umar Sadiq qualities Valencia coach wants vs Real Madrid
1. Sadiq’s strength
Aguirre identified Sadiq’s physical attributes as one of the qualities that distinguish him from other forwards.
The 29-year-old’s height, strength and ability to compete against defenders give Valencia a different attacking option, considering they’ll most likely have less of the ball against a dominant Los Blancos side.
The coach described him as a special player because of his physical characteristics and the way he approaches the game.
“He’s a character. He’s a good guy with a kind heart. He’s a special player. He shows details fitting of a great player,” Aguirre said in his pre-match conference.

The Valencia manager also confirmed that the Nigerian was fit for selection, adding that he was pleased with the condition of his knee.
That reassurance is important after Sadiq’s recent hamstring absence. His return against Elche demonstrated how valuable his presence can be, and Valencia will hope he can offer the same physical threat against a much stronger opponent.
2. Sadiq’s flair
Beyond his physical attributes, Aguirre was equally impressed by Sadiq’s natural ability and the quality he can bring to Valencia’s attack.
The striker has endured an interrupted campaign, but his winner against Elche offered a reminder of his ability to influence matches.
Aguirre made it clear that he wants to see more of those contributions.
“I’m very happy with him; let’s see if he can bring us more moments of joy like the one the other day,” the coach added.

That expectation comes at an important time for Valencia. They have struggled for consistency in La Liga, are currently 19th and face a Real Madrid side with significant attacking quality.
Sadiq’s ability to use his physical strength, combine with teammates and exploit opportunities in the penalty area could provide Valencia with an alternative route to troubling the visitors.
The Nigerian’s starting position remains uncertain, with Arnaut Danjuma and Javi Guerra also competing for attacking places. However, his fitness and recent match-winning contribution have strengthened his case for involvement.
