Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has become a source of concern for both Galatasaray and Nigeria due to an apparent fitness setback, Afrik-Foot reports.
Osimhen was on target for the reigning Süper Lig champions on Friday, netting the opener in a dramatic 3–2 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir.

However, the forward lasted only 33 minutes after pulling up injured. Minutes after overstretching for a loose ball, he appeared in visible discomfort while clutching his right thigh.
By the second half, Osimhen had changed into casual wear and sneakers on the bench.

Given his injury history, fears of an extended spell on the sidelines are understandable. However, there are encouraging signs that the layoff may be brief.
Why Victor Osimhen Might Not Be Sidelined for Long
Reports from Turkey suggest Osimhen suffered a strain to his right groin, though he will undergo further tests to determine the full severity of the injury.

Reassuringly, his mobility on the night suggested the problem was not severe. During the second half, Osimhen moved freely and even jogged onto the pitch to celebrate Gabriel Sara’s late winner with his teammates.

He later walked out of the stadium at a quick pace, all smiles, without a noticeable limp or protective strapping, which is an unlikely sight for a player carrying a serious tear.

Speaking post-match, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk expressed cautious optimism:
”Groin injuries generally have a shorter recovery timeline than other muscle issues. Hopefully, they return as soon as possible. We have a match against Sporting in five days, and we hope our players will be ready.”
When Will Osimhen Return?

While Osimhen’s body language and the manager’s comments offer encouragement, he remains a major doubt for Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Sporting CP in midweek.
A standard low-grade groin strain typically requires up to two weeks on the sidelines.
If that timeline holds, the Nigerian international should recover in time to represent the Super Eagles when the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers resume later this month.
