Victor Osimhen: 3 formulas Atletico Madrid have devised to sign Nigerian striker

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has continuously been linked with a transfer to Spanish La Liga club Atletico Madrid, as the club is seriously looking to add reinforcements to strengthen their attack.

The 27-year-old marksman has built a reputation as one of the best strikers in the world, which has seen him linked with several clubs over the past few years.

He is currently at Galatasaray, where he has flourished throughout his spell. Osimhen has contributed 68 goals and 19 assists in 83 games.

With him in attack, the Cimbom have won back-to-back Süper Lig titles, and they currently look on course for another, sitting at the summit of the table, two points above Amedspor.

During the summer transfer window, he was strongly linked with top clubs such as Barcelona, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, among others. But despite the speculation, he stayed at Galatasaray.

In the summer, he repeatedly stated that he loves life in Istanbul and was unwilling to leave. Galatasaray are also reluctant to let the striker go, as he is their focal point in attack.

Also, the Nigerian striker’s wages are quite high, and he is unwilling to take a pay cut to join another club.

Interested clubs have found it difficult to navigate the complex process required to sign him. Additionally, the fact that he still has three years remaining on his contract has not helped matters.

However, Atleti are looking to overcome these hurdles, and they have devised a plan to snap up the Super Eagles striker either in January or next summer.

How Atletico Madrid Plan to Land Victor Osimhen

According to Sporx, Atletico Madrid are keenly interested in signing Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray. However, in light of several stumbling blocks, they have devised alternative plans to secure his signature.

To circumvent the issues surrounding his salary and valuation, Atletico Madrid are considering options such as performance-based bonuses, player-plus-cash exchanges, and flexible payment structures. They believe these concessions will allow them to acquire Osimhen’s services.

Atletico Madrid could lose Julián Álvarez in January or June amid interest from Barcelona and Arsenal. If that happens, it will inevitably prompt them to go all out for a prolific replacement.

Osimhen fits the bill perfectly: he is a quintessential Simeone-style player — fiery, hungry, and mentally resilient.

The next few months could prove pivotal for Osimhen and Galatasaray. The belief persists that Osimhen ultimately wants to play in one of Europe’s top five leagues. If an official offer arrives and the financial package is right, he will likely accept it.
