Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has taken a significant step in his recovery from an ankle injury, returning to training with Galatasaray two weeks after being sidelined.
The Super Eagles forward, who picked up the knock during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda on September 6, had been forced to leave the national team camp early to continue his rehabilitation in Istanbul.
Since then, the 26-year-old has missed Galatasaray’s last two fixtures, a league meeting with Eyupspor and a UEFA Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt as the club’s medical staff opted for caution in his recovery process. The Turkish champions have been determined not to rush their star striker back into action, mindful of a demanding domestic and continental campaign ahead.

Is Osimhen set to mark his return after 16 days out?
On Sunday, Galatasaray offered a timely update when the club released images of Osimhen participating in group training at Rams Park, just hours before their Super Lig fixture against Konyaspor. While the forward joined in some team drills, he also undertook separate exercises tailored to his recovery program.
According to Turkish outlet Ajansspor, the 2023 CAF Men’s POTY’s involvement in training is viewed as a positive indicator that his return to competitive action is not far away, though he is unlikely to feature against Konyaspor on Monday.

The club is expected to monitor his progress closely over the coming days, with the possibility of easing him back into the squad by the end of September.
The reigning Turkish champions are looking to defend their Super Lig crown while also making an impression in the UEFA Champions League. Osimhen's recovery not only bolsters their attacking options but also reassures Nigeria supporters, who are counting on the striker’s fitness ahead of next month’s international commitments.
