Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has talked up a potential partnership with Spain international Alvaro Morata following their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Alanyaspor on Sunday.

The 26-year-old striker netted the winning goal with a well-placed header, bringing his tally to 17 goals this season in the Super Lig as Galatasaray ended a rough patch with a much-needed win.

Speaking to Turkish media outlet Fanatik, Osimhen reserved special praise for Spanish forward Álvaro Morata, who played a crucial role in the win, expressing his excitement about their growing partnership.

“Playing with Morata was incredible. He is an experienced player with a great understanding of attacking play and a strong team mentality.

“I’m very happy to play alongside him, and we hope to have a season where both of us score plenty of goals,” Osimhen added.

Who will partner Osimhen in Super Eagles attack?

As the FIFA World Cup qualifiers resume later this month, Victor Osimhen is expected to lead the line for Nigeria once again.

However, the big question remains—who will partner him in attack? With usual strike partner, Victor Boniface, struggling for form, a new forward could get the nod.

Several Nigerian strikers have hit top form at the right time, making Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle’s selection dilemma even more interesting. Umar Sadiq has been in red-hot form, scoring four goals in two weeks, while Cyriel Dessers has also been among the goals.

Ademola Lookman is almost certain to start in Chelle’s preferred 4-3-3 formation, leaving one more attacking spot up for grabs.

Dessers might have an edge in selection, as his playing style differs from both Osimhen and Sadiq: the Rangers man is more of a box striker.

Regardless of who gets the nod, Chelle faces a tough decision. But for Nigeria, it’s a good problem to have—plenty of in-form options to support Osimhen.
