Victor Osimhen sends strong message to Juventus ahead of UCL play-off clash

Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that his side are willing to give it all to seal a two-legged win over Juventus, Afrik Foot reports.

The 27-year-old was not on the scoresheet in his side’s 5-2 win over the Old Ladies, but set up two goals to give his side a three-goal cushion heading into the away leg in Turin.

The Old Ladies lost to Cesc Fabregas’s Como during the weekend, the fourth in their last five games, meaning they’re very fragile at the moment.

Still, Osimhen is taking nothing for granted and has urged his side to commit all of their efforts to secure a victory at the Allianz Arena tonight.

Osimhen sends strong message to Juventus

Speaking ahead of the game, the 2023 CAF Player of the Year downplayed his side’s three-goal lead and urged them to do even better against Luciano Spalletti’s side.

“The game is very important, we know we ourselves are playing against Juve, and when there is something to fight, you have to be prepared,” Victor Osimhen said in quotes revealed by Il Bianconero.

“We know it’s one of the most important clubs with quality players, we don’t want to have a superiority approach, it’s going to be a long night.

“We have experienced players, the game will be tough, and we are ready. We want to play and commit as we did on the first leg.

“It will not be easy for them. We want to fight, and we have a strong desire to win.

“I thank the medical staff. I try to do what I can. It’s important to help the team; it’s not just about Osimhen but about the team.

“The moment I chose football as a career, I’ve always been very demanding, and that shaped my way of being. Sometimes there are failures, but the mentality that distinguishes me is to be a winner.

“I try to motivate myself and my companions, and I try to set an example. I’ve always been like this, and that’s how I’m used to it; for me, it’s never enough and for me, it’s important to work hard and spur the team to give it their best.

“I don’t like to lose, it’s times I can be disappointed sometimes, but I don’t like to lose, and I want to take advantage of this opportunity.

“A lot of players come to me: hey Victor, we know you can do more, and I say I know I know, and I try to give more. I love Galatasaray very much, I’m happy to have come here, and there is great respect; the fans always encourage us.

“The club’s goal is critical for us and for the fans and goes beyond personal ambition. I hope they’ll say thank you for what you did when I’m not at Galatasaray anymore,” Osimhen continued.

“Defenders have to face Osimhen, and they know that he’s a nightmare for all of them. I expect this attitude in all the parties I will play, it will never be easy, and I know they will try to limit the team and me.

“I’m not the only one who can do damage, 5 goals have been scored, and I didn’t score. The threat will come from the entire team.

“I am ready to face all the defenders, and I will try to manage the situation and chase all the defenders. I’m ready, I’ll give all the defenders a hard time.”

“I am in contact with some Napoli players, and I often talk to Kvara. For me, it will be a tough match against all the Serie A teams. We are ready to fight,” the ex-Napoli striker concluded.

Juventus are currently 5th on the Serie A table, 18 points behind League leaders Inter Milan.

Should the Old Ladies be knocked out of the UEFA Champions League tonight, there will be no Italian teams left in the competition in the next round.
