Victor Osimhen transfer news: Ex-Super Eagles defender endorses Paris Saint-German move

Published on by

Victor Osimhen’s proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain has been endorsed by former Super Eagles defender Godwin Okpara, Afrik Foot reports.

The 27-year-old has been linked with several top clubs this summer after delivering the Turkish Super Lig for Galatasaray this season, scoring 22 goals and providing six assists across all competitions for Okan Buruk’s side.

Luis Enrique’s side, meanwhile, have won back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles without an outright number nine in their starting lineup, but have been linked with a move for the former Napoli striker, considering his relentless pressing fits the way the French side plays.

The 2023 CAF Player of the Year scored 18 goals and provided five assists in his only season in the French Ligue 1 with LOSC Lille.

That record of success is what Okpara is holding on to as a belief that Osimhen will thrive in Paris.

“It will make them more stronger. For him going to PSG, he knows he has played in the French league and knows how everything goes,” Godwin Okpara said in an interview with Footy Africa.

“And I mean it’s a wonderful team for him, and it’s a team that wants to win everything. It’s a winning team,” the former PSG defender continued.

“I know next year they will be planning to win the Champions League again, because the only team that had done it is Real Madrid back-to-back three times.

“So I think, why not? PSG might be in that shoe too. So for him, going to PSG, it’ll be a very good thing for Osimhen and for Nigeria as a whole,” the 53-year-old concluded.

Paris Saint-Germain will play against Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup final on August 12. Should they succeed in their hunt for Osimhen, he could lead the line for them against Unai Emery’s side.
