Barcelona and Real Madrid might be at the centre of a transfer tussle for Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen this summer, Afrik Foot reports.
Turkish outlet Fotomac claims that Real Madrid have identified Osimhen as their ideal long-term solution at centre-forward despite having a squad stacked with elite attacking talent.
However, the situation at the Santiago Bernabeu isn’t entirely about Osimhen, but largely about the club’s inability to harness the best from the attacking combination of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

Vinicius’ contract uncertainty sparks internal Madrid battle
Vinicius Jr.’s current deal runs until the summer of 2027, but talks over a renewal have stalled, with no significant progress made in recent months.
While Madrid remains calm publicly, the club are wary of allowing another superstar contract situation to drag deep into its final two years.
If a breakthrough is not reached soon, Los Blancos may be forced to consider difficult decisions, including a potential sale this summer, to avoid seeing the Brazilian walk for free next season.

Victor Osimhen on Real Madrid’s radar
Should Vinicius leave Madrid, the club’s hierarchy is said to be preparing a tactical reshuffle that’ll push Kylian Mbappe permanently to the left wing and bring an outright striker to play up front.
While the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker has always scored goals, his innate need to always want to be on the ball robs his team of a presence in the box that troubles defenders, a situation that Thierry Henry has repeatedly called out.
Thierry Henry just exposed what people don’t want to admit… Jude Bellingham is making runs that Kylian Mbappé should be making.

Victor Osimhen, without doubt, is one of Europe’s most complete strikers, as he ticks every box.
The Galatasaray man is explosive, technically gifted, presses aggresively, is dominant aerially, and lethal inside the box. These qualities have been lacking at Real Madrid since Karim Benzema bade the Bernabeu goodbye.
While Mbappe has operated centrally in recent times, his most devastating performances have come when he drifts in from the left. That way, he can isolate defenders and attack the space with his blistering pace.
The club’s technical staff admire Osimhen’s mobility and ability to stretch defences, an attribute that would complement the creativity and work rate of Jude Bellingham.

Securing Osimhen’s services won’t come cheap for Real Madrid. Galatasaray value the striker at no less than €100 million, and are under no financial pressure to sell.
However, it is understood that the 2023 CAF Player of the Year is open to a new challenge if an elite European giant makes a concrete approach.
Real Madrid would likely need to finance any deal through strategic departures, and Vinicius’ situation could directly influence their capacity to act decisively in the market.
Barcelona, meanwhile are lurking in the shadows. The Catalan giants are in the market for a world-class striker, given Robert Lewandowski will not be at the club for much longer.

Barca’s financial constraints complicate matters, considering they’ll most likely go all out for Marcus Rashford in the summer as well.
Ultimately, Vinicius Jr.’s contract situation may determine the entire chain of events.
If renewal talks accelerate and an agreement is reached, Madrid would not need to bring in a striker, given they still have Gonzalo Garcia and Endrick on their books.

If uncertainty lingers, Florentino Perez and his board may move to reshape the attack, although Fabrizio Romano revealed the club’s President wants Vinicius to stay at the Bernabeu.
