A simple social media request has turned into a potential career breakthrough for Nigerian footballer Ola Great.
The youngster, who went viral after tweeting his desire for a trial with Sevilla, has now received an official invitation from Sevilla FC D, the club’s newly formed international team.
Ola Great’s journey to this opportunity began when he responded to a challenge from Sevilla’s English X (formerly Twitter) account, asking for 100,000 retweets in exchange for a trial.

The Nigerian’s post quickly gained traction, surpassing the milestone and drawing widespread attention.

Now, the dream has moved closer to reality. Chimezie Paul Obi, a fellow Nigerian player at Sevilla FC D, extended a personal invitation to Ola Great in a video shared on the club’s official social media page.
“Hello Ola, I am Obi Paul, I am a player of Sevilla FC D, and we would love for you to come and take a trial with our international team. We are waiting for you,” Obi said.
Sevilla FC D are set to compete in Spain’s ninth-tier league, Tercera Andaluza, with a squad composed entirely of international under-19 players. The club recently outlined its vision for the team, describing it as a strategic initiative aimed at both sporting development and expanding Sevilla’s reach in key global markets.
“Starting this season, Sevilla FC will have a new team within its competitive structure. It will be a squad with a strong international dimension and will compete in the Tercera Andaluza, in the ninth tier of Spanish football. It will consist of foreign players aged 18 in line with FIFA regulations.
“The project is not only sports-related but also a strategic international development initiative, allowing foreign players to help the club grow in various key markets,” the club announced.
Ola Great’s football journey has so far seen him play for Superstar FC in the Lagos Liga and Futa Tigers in the Nigerian University League Games. Now, he has a chance to test himself in Spain, with Sevilla FC D offering a pathway into European football.
