English Premier League side West Ham United have joined Arsenal and German giants Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez, Afrik-Foot reports.
The Rangers defender is attracting growing attention across Europe, after an incredible first few months in Scotland. Belgian side Club Brugge are also keen on signing him as a possible replacement for Joel Ordonez, who is expected to leave this summer.
However, the situation is becoming increasingly competitive. Alongside Arsenal and Dortmund, West Ham have now entered the picture, while Bayer Leverkusen are also monitoring the defender closely. This is according to Voetbalkrant.

With several top clubs interested, Rangers are in a strong position and are likely to demand a significant fee for the 24-year-old, who still has a long-term contract.
Fernandez’s rising profile was further boosted on Friday, March 27, when he made his senior debut for the Nigeria national football team in a 2-1 friendly win. Introduced at half-time for Semi Ajayi, he delivered a composed performance that revealed why clubs are circling.

Fernandez: From non-league football to Super Eagles
Born in London, Fernandez began his early development at Brentford and Gillingham, but had to take a longer route into professional football.
He gained early senior experience through loan spells at smaller clubs such as Sheppey United and Margate FC. After leaving Gillingham, he briefly featured for Ramsgate, continuing to build his game in the lower leagues.

His breakthrough came in 2021 when he signed for Peterborough United. He made his Championship debut in April 2022 and, after a loan spell at Barnet FC, he developed into a regular starter. During the 2024–25 season, Fernandez played more than 40 matches and helped Peterborough win the EFL Trophy at Wembley, marking a key step in his progress.
That form earned him a move to Rangers in July 2025. Since arriving in Scotland, he has become an important figure in defence, contributing not only with solid defending but also goals, scoring six times in 27 appearances across competitions this season.
His performances caught the attention of Nigeria head coach Éric Chelle, who handed him his first international call-up. Now, after making his debut, Fernandez’s career appears to be entering a new phase, with interest from across Europe and the Premier League growing rapidly.
