Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi's form has come under intense scrutiny from the Nigerian football community following Leicester City's humiliating 4-0 defeat to Brentford in a Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Friday.
The result means Ruud van Nistelrooy's side remains in the relegation zone, sitting 19th in the table with just 17 points from 26 matches.
Ndidi, who started in midfield alongside Boubakary Soumaré, endured a lacklustre performance before being substituted in the 77th minute, making way for Oliver Skipp.
Before his substitution, the Nigerian midfielder recorded 41 touches, completing 23 of his 29 passes with a 79% accuracy rate.

However, the 28-year-old struggled to make an attacking impact, failing to register a single key pass, shot on target, or successful dribble. He attempted two crosses, both unsuccessful, and completed just one of his two long-ball attempts.
Defensively, Ndidi won three of his seven ground duels and one of his two aerial battles while making two clearances. However, he lost possession 10 times and committed two fouls, further highlighting his difficult outing.
Unimpressed by his performance, some Super Eagles fans took to X to express their concerns over the 28-year-old's recent form, particularly with Nigeria's crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe approaching in March.
However, another fan pointed out Leicester’s struggles, highlighting the concern of having a defensive midfielder as their top assister and questioning the decision to bring on another while trailing 3-0.
Another fan criticised Leicester, stating that the team lacks everything required to compete in the Premier League.
At the beginning of the season, Ndidi was among Leicester’s standout performers, recording four assists in his first six matches. However, as the team's form dipped, his impact gradually diminished, and a December injury kept him out of action for two months.
So far this season, the 28-year-old has played 16 matches, starting all and averaging 82 minutes per game. Defensively, he has contributed an average of 3.1 tackles and 4.3 ball recoveries per match.
