Wilfred Ndidi: Saudi millions to lure Super Eagles midfielder?

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi might be the next Nigerian star heading to Saudi Arabia.

The Super Eagles midfielder, who signed a short extension with Leicester City after their relegation to the Championship, is reportedly attracting interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli.

Despite committing to Leicester until 2027, it’s understood the Foxes are open to offers for the 28-year-old after the club was relegated.

Ndidi, once among Europe’s top defensive midfielders, is now eyeing a fresh challenge, and the Saudi interest could be just the opportunity he needs.

Reports in England say Al Ahli have already contacted his representatives.

Ndidi has also been linked with clubs in France, including Lyon, and there were whispers about interest from two Major League Soccer sides in the United States.

But the Saudi offer might be more tempting financially and professionally.

At this stage of his career, a move to the Middle East, where many ex-Premier League names now play, might appeal to him.

What can Wilfred Ndidi bring to Al Ahli?

Although this season wasn’t his best, Ndidi remains a tenacious ball-winner and a consistent performer when fit.

Al Ahli, who are currently fifth in the Saudi league table, are out of the title race but want to strengthen ahead of next season. Bringing in someone like Ndidi would improve their midfield steel and defensive shape.

Valued at €18 million but with a relegation release clause half that, his fee won’t be a problem for Al Ahli.

With stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino already in the league, Ndidi would be joining a growing list of top players choosing the Saudi league.

His potential addition would be a smart move for a team hoping to challenge for the title again next season, as they are out of the running this term.

It’s now a waiting game to see if talks progress, but one thing is clear, the Nigeria international could be on his way out of English football.
