Former WSL champion Brooke Nunn has set her sights on a new and exciting challenge: representing Nigeria's Super Falcons at international level.

Recently signed by the Central Coast Mariners from Hibernian FC, Nunn has deeply expressed her passion for donning the famous green and white jersey.

The English-born forward, who boasts both Nigerian and German heritage through her mother, sees this opportunity as a huge step toward personal fulfillment.

Nigerian heritage fuels Nunn’s Super Falcons ambition

Despite spending her early life in England and even representing the country at youth levels, Nunn has her heart firmly set on Nigeria.

Inspired by trailblasers like Ashleigh Plumptre, who have paved the way for overseas-born players to join the Super Falcons, Nunn feels more optimistic about her chances.

“Initially, I didn’t think the possibility of playing for the Super Falcons was there a few years back because you don’t often see or hear of players that didn’t grow up in Nigeria within the squad,” she revealed, as quoted by Brila FM.

She noted that her Nigerian connection comes from her mother, of both Nigerian and German descent, and while the thought of representing Nigeria seemed distant for most of her career, the recent shift in approach by the national team has reignited her dream.

A symbol of possibility for Nunn

Now with an illustrious footballing background that includes WSL titles with Arsenal and stints across various European clubs, Nunn believes she has something special to offer.

She highlighted her desire to inspire other players of Nigerian descent from abroad to pursue their dreams of representing the Super Falcons.

“I find it very motivating, and I want to be a symbol of this possibility,” Nunn stated.

With her new adventure in the A-League on the horizon, Nunn is looking ahead to possibly joining the eleven-time African champions and writing the next chapter of her impressive career.
