Yira Sor to Amedspor: 2 qualities that could make Super Eagles forward a hit

Super Eagles forward Yira Sor has completed his move to Turkish side Amedspor ahead of the new season after leaving Belgian club Genk, Afrik-Foot reports.

Sor’s future had been uncertain throughout the summer, with doubts over whether he would remain at Genk after gradually falling down the pecking order at the Belgian club over the last few seasons.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move away from Genk to several clubs across Europe, including teams in the Bundesliga, but his future has now been settled with a move to Turkey.

Sor has joined Amedspor, who will be competing in the Turkish Süper Lig, and will be hoping to play an important role as the club prepares for its first season in the Turkish top flight.

Amedspor will be looking to make a strong impression against some of the bigger clubs in the league and establish themselves at the highest level. The club has already made a statement with the signing of fellow Nigerian forward Gift Orban this summer, and the arrival of Sor further strengthens their attacking options.

How will Amedspor benefit from Yira Sor’s move?

Amedspor will face a major challenge in their first season in the Turkish Süper Lig, but the signing of Sor gives them another quality attacking option as they look to compete at the highest level and there are two main qualities that could make the Nigerian forward a hit at the club.

One of Yira Sor’s biggest strengths is his pace and ability to run directly at defenders. The Nigerian is a very quick winger who can use his speed to beat opponents and create problems for opposing defences. His willingness to take on defenders also makes him a dangerous player in one-on-one situations.

Sor can pick up the ball in wide areas, drive towards his opponent and use his pace to get past his man. This can create space for himself and his teammates while also giving Amedspor another way of breaking down defensive lines.

“I am happy that the two clubs were able to reach an agreement. For me, this is a new challenge and one that I am willing to take on.

“There are a lot of Nigerian players in Turkey, especially our captain Wilfred Ndidi, who is with Beşiktaş, Victor Osimhen at Galatasaray and many others.

“It should be fun facing my fellow Nigerians in the league, and I am also happy that Gift Orban is at the club.

“I want to thank the Genk fans for their support throughout all the years I was with them. I love them, but this is a new challenge for me”, he concluded.

Amedspor fans will not have to wait long to see Sor in action, with the Turkish Süper Lig set to kick off this weekend.

The newly promoted side will welcome Erzurumspor to the Seyrantepe Spor Kompleksi Stadium as they begin their first campaign in the Turkish top flight.
