Nigerian teenager Zadok Yohanna is on the brink of making history after Swedish club AIK confirmed that negotiations are underway for his transfer away from Stockholm, Afrik-Foot reports.
The 18-year-old winger has become one of the hottest young prospects in Scandinavian football following an impressive breakthrough campaign, and AIK now appear ready to cash in on their prized asset.
In an official statement released by the club, AIK revealed that discussions have started regarding the sale of Yohanna. The club also disclosed that the proposed transfer would generate a financial return that exceeds their previous records, making it the biggest outgoing deal in the club’s history.
If the transfer goes through as expected, Yohanna will surpass the fee AIK received for Swedish striker Alexander Isak when he joined Borussia Dortmund in January 2017. Isak’s move was valued at around €8.6 million and stood as the club’s benchmark for nearly a decade.

Since then, Isak has enjoyed an impressive career path, moving from Dortmund to Real Sociedad and later Newcastle United before securing a blockbuster move to Liverpool for a British-record transfer fee last summer.
Yohanna’s impending transfer is therefore significant not only because of its financial value but also because it would see another young talent from AIK leave the club amid huge expectations.
Several European clubs have reportedly been monitoring the Nigerian youngster throughout the summer. English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have been heavily linked with him, while interest has also emerged from other clubs across Europe.
AIK disclosed that the offers currently on the table are expected to generate a net profit exceeding 130,000 kSEK, which translates to more than €12 million. That figure would comfortably eclipse the amount received for Isak and establish a new club transfer record.

While the deal would set a new AIK benchmark, it would not become the biggest transfer ever involving a Swedish league club. Recent high-profile departures such as Lucas Bergvall’s move from Djurgårdens IF to Tottenham Hotspur and Bazoumana Touré’s transfer from Hammarby IF to Hoffenheim remain among the largest transactions in Allsvenskan history.
Zadok Yohanna: Kaduna-nurtured lad set for global limelight
Yohanna’s rapid rise has been one of the most remarkable stories involving a Nigerian player over the past year.
The youngster began his football journey at Ikon Allah Football Academy in Kaduna, where his speed, dribbling ability and dangerous left foot quickly attracted attention from European scouts.
Those qualities eventually earned him a move to AIK in July 2025 shortly after his 18th birthday. The Swedish giants handed him a long-term contract running until December 2029 and immediately viewed him as a player for the future.
AIK also gave him the No. 36 shirt, the same number worn by Alexander Isak during his breakthrough years at the club. The decision increased expectations around the Nigerian youngster, who was tasked with following in the footsteps of one of Sweden’s greatest modern exports.

After spending the second half of 2025 adapting to life in Europe, Yohanna exploded into form in 2026.
He announced himself in March by scoring his first two goals for AIK in a 4-0 Svenska Cupen victory over BK Häcken. Weeks later, he scored on the opening day of the Allsvenskan season against Halmstads BK.
His performances soon attracted international attention. European media outlets began referring to him as the “Nigerian Neymar” because of his flair, close control and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations.
By the middle of the season, Yohanna had registered two goals and two assists in just seven league appearances, numbers that convinced Nigeria coach Eric Chelle to include him in the Super Eagles squad for the Unity Cup and subsequent friendlies against Portugal and Poland.
However, a minor injury prevented him from joining the national team after AIK decided not to release him during his recovery period.
Despite missing that opportunity, Yohanna’s stock has continued to rise. Now, with Europe’s leading clubs circling and AIK already negotiating his departure, the Kaduna-born winger appears set to become the most expensive player in the Swedish club’s history.
