Kaizer Chiefs' newest acquisition, Nkanyiso Shinga, has shared his excitement about joining Amakhosi from Portuguese side Alverca.
The Durban-born defender marks his return to South African football after a significant period spent developing his skills in Portugal, having initially emerged from a KwaZulu-Natal academy.
Shinga openly expressed that signing for Chiefs is a lifelong dream come true for him. He further revealed that the allure of playing for the Soweto giants was so strong that he chose them over all other offers he had on the table.

SHINGA ON LIFE-LONG DREAM OF PLAYING FOR CHIEFS
“I was really excited when Kaizer Chiefs came calling. It was always a dream of mine to play for Kaizer Chiefs, and I'm beyond excited to be living out my dream,” said Shinga as quoted by SABC Sport.
“I did receive other offers, but joining Amakhosi was always the first prize.”
On his time in Portugal, “I started out as a u/19 in Portugal, and I remember first being used as a winger, and shortly thereafter I jumped from the fourth division to the second division of Portuguese club football, and then I also got a taste for top-flight football.”
Shinga will have a chance to play in front of his home crowd when Amakhosi take on Asante Kotoko in the Toyota Cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
“I only went to that stadium once to watch a game, so I'm looking forward to play there for the first time. I'm beyond excited to play in front of my city and my people,” he said.
Speaking on his preferable positions, he said, “I prefer to play left back, but I can also play as a left centre back when the team uses a back three, l've also been pushed into the midfield, and I'm also comfortable on the wing.”
