DStv Diski Challenge: Chiefs back in action as Pirates seek redemption against Stellies

Published on by Joel Oliver

Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to close in on top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge on Saturday, November 2 when they host AmaZulu.

Chiefs will hope to maintain their good run after not being involved last weekend when their match with Royal AM was cancelled.

Amakhosi had beaten Polokwane City 4-0 on October 20 and were the biggest winners last weekend without even kicking a ball as most of their rivals dropped points.

Pirates with difficult task of the weekend

Heading into their match with AmaZulu, Chiefs are on 17 points, three behind leaders Stellenbosch FC, but with a match in hand over the PSL Reserve League champions.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates, who suffered a 3-2 loss to SuperSport United last week, have a tough away match to Stellenbosch on Sunday November 3.

Stellenbosch are unbeaten in their last five matches, having also won their last three, which shows how difficult a task it will be for Pirates, who had won back-to-back games before the reverse against SuperSport.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to return to winning ways at home to Golden Arrows on Saturday, following last weekend’s 1-1 draw away to Sekhukhune United.

The Brazilians had closed in on top spot after three straight wins but saw their momentum slowed, leaving them four points behind Stellenbosch, and even though they have a match in hand, they can ill afford to drop more points.

In other matches, high-scoring Cape Town City hope to get another big victory away to Magesi FC on Saturday, the same day that SuperSport United host Richards Bay, as Polokwane take on Marumo Gallants while Chippa United visit TS Galaxy on Sunday.
