Kaizer Chiefs’ two-goal hero Wandile Duba has revealed that coach Nasreddine Nabi told him to take advantage of Stellenbosch’s slow defence to score in their 2-1 victory on Wednesday.
Duba was named Man of the Match after Chiefs came from a goal down to beat Stellies at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening in what was a much improved display from Nabi’s team.
The Glamour Boys had gone down to a 20th minute goal from Khomotjo Lekoloane but Duba headed in the equaliser eight minutes later before scoring the winner in the 28th minute.
What did Nabi tell Duba?
Duba had other opportunities to score and he has opened up on the tactical instructions he received from his coach ahead of the match.
“The coach told me that their centre-backs are slow so I should make runs, behind their shoulders and I will score goals,” Duba told SuperSport TV.
“I did that, and I scored. We are getting used to how the coach wants us to work. It's just that we have to adjust to every game. So, we have to change in every game and adjust to the team we are playing on the day, but we are getting used to the way he wants us to play.
Chiefs up to fifth on the table
“We wanted to win today’s game. It was our birthday yesterday so we are here to celebrate in style. We had to bring three points back to the village today.”
It was Chiefs’ fifth league win of the season from 12 matches which has lifted them to fifth place on the table with 18 points.
Duba meanwhile now has four goals, joining the club’s top scorers Ranga Chivaviro and Mduduzi Shabalala.
