Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral has given reasons why the Glamour Boys should be silent in the January transfer window.
PSL clubs have already started beefing up their squads this month with Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns among those who have made reinforcements.
The Glamour Boys have been silent so far but fans expect some movement in the transfer market despite bringing in 11 players in the off-season after not being impressed by those brought in in the first six months of the campaign.
Why should Chiefs be silent in January?

However, Ertugral thinks Chiefs would be best served avoiding the January transfer market as they have never really been successful with their mid-season signings over the years.
“I think [Kaizer] Junior is busy with a lot of elements but, the biggest problem for me was always, when I was there, the January transfer window never helps a lot,” Ertugral said on the OmniAudioAfrica podcast.
“They need to be careful of that. Bringing in a lot of players now, it does not make sense. It means you don’t trust the players. Sometimes the players will take that very seriously. They need to have a nice feeling.”

However, Chiefs Head of Recruitment and Scouting Thembela Maliwa has already indicated that the club will be active in the transfer market this month.
“When you want to bring a player to your club, it does not start two months before, it starts 12 or eight months before,” Maliwa said on African Football Connect last month.
“That is what I do, for instance, I am already preparing for the June 2026 transfer window now and we are about seven months before then and I am done preparing for January four months ago, before we even finished the June one,” he revealed.
It remains to be seen who Chiefs will bring in after such an outlay before the season started but they might be needed to offload some players to create room for the new arrivals.
