Orlando Pirates new signing Kamogelo Sebelebele is quickly turning into a crowd favourite and it appears he is also getting on well with team-mates.

Sebelebele has scored in three straight games and came to Pirates’ rescue twice in the MTN8 semi-final when he scored the equalising goals for Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side both at home and away against Mamelodi Sundowns before the tie went into penalties, where the Soweto giants won 4-1, after a 2-2 draw on aggregate.

The former TS Galaxy winger is also showing versatility as he has impressed at right-back in his last two games and his team-mate Sipho Mbule has shed light on the camaraderie within the Pirates dressing room.

“My role here is just like everybody’s role,” Mbule, who also joined Pirates before the start of the season, told SuperSport TV.

What nickname has Mbule given Sebelebele?

“We support each other when things are tough, we don’t give up on each other. We help each other through tough times. I think our senior players like [Thapelo] Xoki, [Nkosinathi] Sibisi, [Olisa] Ndah even when they are not playing, they are supporting other players.”

Mbule then revealed the nickname he has given Sebelebele who has impressed him with his quality.

“It is a good relationship between the players and technical team. You know that Kasongo [he goes on to sing].. ‘Kasongo ye ye, mobali na ngai…’ That boy is good and we have quality players at Orlando Pirates,” he added, seemingly disclosing the name he has given the 23-year-old.

Pirates have made it into the MTN8 final for a fourth year in a row and after becoming the first team to win it three times on the bounce, they will be looking to make it four on the trot when they take on Stellenbosch in the decisive match.
