‘It’s not about us to tell players what to do’ – Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef is determined to see Amakhosi deliver in the next two competitive assignments.

Last weekend, the Soweto giants managed to do just enough to eliminate Angolan outfit Kabuscorp from the CAF Confederation Cup to get into the next phase of the annual competition. The game ended 1-1 in aggregate before the Glamour Boys registered a 5-4 win in the shootout to advance.

On Wednesday, Amakhosi  are set to host AmaZulu in the Premier Soccer League before tackling Stellenbosch in the Carling Knockout's Round of 16 this weekend.

Players know the importance of the game

Ben Youssef insists the players know the importance of the games and there is no need to remind them of the same.

“I think we will try to manage all the players, our players know the situation and the importance of the upcoming two games, the first against AmaZulu in the PSL, the second against Stellenbosch in the Carling Cup,” he told the media.

“They know the importance, we have started the analysis, our players know it’s not about us to tell them what they have to do, we’re Kaizer Chiefs, we play to win every game, there’s no need to explain to them this situation, they know everything.”

We will work until everything is fixed

Amakhosi have struggled in front of the goal, and this season, have scored more than one goal just once. It is a concern for the stakeholders, but Ben Youssef is convinced that a solution will be reached soon.

“The only solution [to improve scoring] is to work, we have to work in training, repeat, analyse every training session, change what we see after analysis, we try to explain, bring other examples at the highest level to show the players,” he continued.

“The only thing we can do is keep working; we work until everything is fixed,” Ben Youssef concluded.
