Jessica Motaung reveals what is behind Kaizer Chiefs’ improved form

Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung has opened up about what is behind the team’s improved form this season.

Chiefs have been impressive on the pitch this term and have 30 points from 15 matches, five behind leaders Orlando Pirates and two adrift of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, while they are closing in on a place in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final as they top their group heading into their final game.

This is in contrast to the last two seasons when they managed 36 points to finish 10th in 2023-24 before a paltry 32 points for a ninth-place finish in 2024-25.

Motaung lauds Chiefs’ collective effort

Jessica Motaung says it is all down to the collective effort of everyone involved with the club from those in management, players and supporters.

“This season has been successful because of the work and the foundation we laid,” she told the media on Tuesday.

“The work the football department has done in terms of the selection of the players, signings, the technical team and the work they are doing, the management and collaboration.

“An organisation like this would not succeed if it was not teamwork on and off the pitch. And obviously the players themselves, coming and rising to the occasion.

“And our fans, our fans are at every stadium, filling the stadium, supporting the players win or lose. This is what makes us who we are as Kaizer Chiefs and our success depends on us working together and collaborating.”

Chiefs will hope for more positive news this weekend as they play away to Egyptian giants Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup where they need a draw to be sure of a place in the quarter-final as group winners.
