Kaizer Chiefs’ confirmation of three new signings on Tuesday also added to their quota of foreign players which leaves them with a big decision to make.
Chiefs added left-back Nkanyiso Shinga, attacking midfielder Ethan Chislett and Portuguese striker Flavio Silva to the squad and while the former two are South African, the latter has now filled their quota of foreign players.
Silva’s signing means Chiefs now have five foreign players, reaching the maximum allowed in the PSL, with Venezuelan midfielder Edson Castillo, Angolan defender Miguel Inacio, DR Congo international Glody Lilepo and Rwandan goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari on their books.
Fiacre Ntwari likely to be the sacrificial lamb

That means Chiefs cannot sign any more foreign players unless they create room for the new additions, raising the questions over who will be the sacrificial lamb.
Given the foreign players on their books, it is difficult to see Ntwari having a future at the club as he fell out of favour early last season, with coach Nasreddine Nabi using Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma for the rest of the campaign, although the Glamour Boys are reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper.
Castillo was a key player before he suffered a nasty injury last season while Inacio played nearly every match that he was available for and was also handed the captain’s armband on certain occasions.
Which other foreign player is linked to Chiefs?

Lilepo, meanwhile, is one of the ‘untouchables’ as he was the most impressive of the 10 players signed last season which leaves Chiefs with a big decision to make if they want to add more foreign players.
Tanzanian playmaker Feisal Salum is coveted by Nabi and has been linked to the club since last year while Nigerian Etiosa Ighodaro has reportedly been signed.
It remains to be seen how Chiefs will maneuver the foreign quota conundrum to stay in line with the rules ahead of next season.
