‎Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung has explained why the club chose Zimbabwe champions Scottland FC for their upcoming Toyota Cup.

‎Chiefs will play Scottland FC at Rustenburg’s Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday, 26 July in the one-off match this time, after facing Tanzania’s Yanga in 2023 and Asante Kotoko from Ghana in 2025.

‎”We looked at a number of teams, we looked at the relationships that we have, and very important for us was that we’ve had an East African and West African teams, so Southern Africa was a space we felt we needed to look at,” said Motaung as quoted by SABC.

‎”And we’re just very proud of the work [Scottland] are doing in their league, a debutant that has done exceptionally well with great investment into the game.

‎”Some of our past players are in there, so we just looked at the history and the opportunity in the Zimbabwean league, and we’re proud to have them as the team coming to play in the Toyota Cup.”
