Kaizer Chiefs Transfers: Amakhosi start talks with Swiss striker

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly in talks with Swiss striker Ruben del Campo over a possible January transfer.

Chiefs have not hidden their desire to sign a striker and the Atletico Madrid academy graduate has emerged as a key target as they look to strengthen their attack that has failed to live up to expectations.

Chiefs have scored 14 league goals in 11 matches this season with Ranga Chivaviro and Mduduzi Shabalala the leading scorers with four each while their forwards have been blamed for wasting several opportunities.

Nasreddine Nabi’s side are among teams that have created the most chances this campaign but rank low when it comes to conversion and that is why the tactician is looking for a reliable striker.

Will the Swiss striker reject Europe for RSA?

Capped 26 at youth level for Switzerland, Del Campo has attracted interest from teams in Denmark, Italy and Portugal following his impressive campaign with Atletico Ottawa in Canada last season as per Idiski Times.

He scored an impressive 14 goals in 33 games and also added three assists, to be nominated for the Player of the Season award.

The 24-year-old is currently a free agent and his status has given Chiefs hope of landing his signature as they would not need to pay a transfer fee.

However, with the interest coming from Europe, it is not clear if Del Campo would turn it down for a transfer to South Africa.
