Kaizer Chiefs UK Tour: Amakhosi eye strong finish against QPR

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs are determined to wrap up their United Kingdom tour on a high as they prepare to face Queens Park Rangers (QPR) at the TSG Elite Training & Performance Centre.

The clash, scheduled for 1 PM South African time, marks the Amakhosi’s third and final fixture on English soil.

Reflecting on the tour, goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba shared his thoughts with supersport.com after Amakhosi drew with Leeds and Manchester United

“It is indeed bittersweet to be heading back home. However, our mission is not yet complete; we must ensure that we finish strong with a win.”

He added:

“We started our journey with a victory, and we aim to end it with another one. As players, we understand that this will not be an easy task, but we have been preparing for a long time, and we will be ready for the challenge.” (supersport.com)

Mazhamba featured in the opening match against Manchester United, conceding a single goal. His fellow shot-stopper, Naphtali Mokoena, was between the posts during the 1-1 draw against Leeds United earlier this week.

The year 2025 has been a breakthrough one for Mazhamba. At just 18 years old, he lifted the Diski Challenge title with Chiefs in May before playing a pivotal role in South Africa’s historic Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations triumph — the first in the nation’s history. That victory secured Amajita’s place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, where they reached the Round of 16.

Looking back on his achievements, Mazhamba told supersport.com:

“I am immensely happy with how my year has unfolded. This recognition means a great deal to me, but my journey doesn’t end here. I am still striving for more.”
