Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has highlighted the significance of Brandon Petersen‘s return, emphasising the stability the goalkeeper brings to the squad.
Petersen was sidelined for five matches after undergoing surgery for a medical issue that emerged just before the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates in late February. During his absence, the team conceded five goals.
The Amakhosi shot-stopper has an impressive record this season, keeping 12 clean sheets in his 17 league appearances.
He made his comeback in the club’s 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy this past weekend, a result that solidified Chiefs’ third-place position on the log with 42 points and eight games left in the season.

Kaze expressed his satisfaction with having his captain back in the lineup, praising his confidence, stability, and leadership qualities.
“About Brandon, he’s a player, he’s our captain and he is a player that gives you confidence,” Kaze stated as per iDiski Times.
“A player that gives you that stability as well at the back. He’s a player that is a leader on, off the field as well and we are happy that he’s back. I hope that his performance will be good going forward.”

Chiefs will next face relegation-threatened Magesi FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday and will be banking on Petersen to continue his impressive stint in goal as they look for a fifth straight league win.
The Glamour Boys can open up a six-point gap over fourth-placed AmaZulu with a win in Polokwane and still have a game in hand on their rivals for the coveted third place which will come with a ticket to next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
