Kaizer Chiefs will be without goalkeeper Brandon Petersen for up to three weeks following his surgery last week.
Peterson raised eyebrows last weekend when he missed the Soweto Derby as Chiefs were thrashed 3-0 by Orlando Pirates with Bruce Bvuma slotted in goal for the big match.
It later emerged that the goalkeeper had been absent due to a health issue with co-coach Cedric Kaze clarifying that the player had surgery in the days leading up to the derby.

“Brandon has been sick; he was admitted to the hospital and had surgery two days ago,” Kaze told SuperSport TV. “We wish him a speedy recovery.”
When will Petersen return?
It is now reported that Petersen will be out for between two and three weeks with his expected return being after the FIFA international break, according to SABC presenter Mazola Molefe.
The international break will be from March 23-31, meaning Petersen will miss games against Richards Bay on Tuesday night, Durban City on March 15 and the clash with Magesi FC on March 21.
That would bring the total number of games to four in which the Chiefs skipper would have missed, denying them a key component of the team.
Chiefs keeper enjoying great season
Petersen has been impressive this season, playing all games before his injury, and had kept 16 clean sheets in 28 matches across all competitions, including 11 in 16 league matches, and was in the running for the PSL Golden Glove award.

His absence will give Orlando Pirates’ Sipho Chaine a chance to run away with the gong given the Bucs goalkeeper has 13 clean sheets in 18 PSL games.
Petersen’s improved form at Chiefs has seen him rewarded with the captain’s armband and the club is working on giving him a new improved and longer contract as his current deals runs out at the end of the season.
