Labohang Maboe: Cedric Kaze delivers verdict on Kaizer Chiefs new signing after first start

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has reserved praise for one of their new signings after an impressive display against Zamalek on Saturday.

Chiefs played out a 1-1 draw with the Egyptian giants in their CAF Confederation Cup second group stage match in Polokwane although they needed a late own goal to pick up their first point.

The Glamour Boys were hoping to bounce back from their 2-1 loss to Egyptian side Al Masry in their group opener but found the going tough with Seifeddine Jaziri scoring for Zamalek after just three minutes with the equalising goal coming courtesy of a stoppage time mistake from goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi.

However, there are some players who covered themselves in glory and one of them was midfielder Lebohang Maboe who Kaze has praised for his performance in midfield alongside Sibongiseni Mthethwa.

What has Kaze said about Maboe

“I believe that the whole team, they played very well they helped each other,” said Kaze as per iDiski Times.

“Maboe we know his technical qualities, a player that drives you forward. He’s a player that can find the players in very tight spaces.

“He had a very good game and he’s a player that drives the other players and you need a player that can level up the technical quality of the team.”

It was just the third game for Maboe since joining Chiefs as a free agent from Mamelodi Sundowns and his first start and looks to have put himself in a good position to fight for a starting place in the team going forward.
