Former Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has weighed in on the situation of winger Thapelo Morena at the club.

Morena does not have a future at Sundowns after being left behind when the rest of the squad left for pre-season in Austria as he explores a transfer away from the club with Cyrus his possible destination after spending six months on loan at Limassol.

“If as a player you feel the environment does not suit you to perform to your best ability, I always believe players should move but they have to come to an agreement between club and players. Football is exciting when players want to move for greener pastures,” Kekana said on SABC.

Injury blessing in disguise for Arthur Sales

While his Mamelodi Sundowns teammates continue their pre-season preparations in Austria, Brazilian forward Arthur Sales has been making the most of his time away from the pitch.

Sales remains sidelined with the shoulder injury he sustained towards the end of last season and is currently recovering back home as he continues his rehabilitation.

The 24-year-old recently gave supporters a glimpse into his life off the field by sharing photos on social media of himself enjoying quality time with his family, with images showing the Brazilian smiling alongside his loved ones as he continues to recover ahead of the new campaign.

Although he has been unable to join Miguel Cardoso’s squad for the European training camp, Sales appears to be using the period to focus on both his rehabilitation and spending valuable time with those closest to him.

Sundowns Ladies clinch Engen title

The youth football front delivered some welcome good news for the Sundowns family over the weekend, with the club’s women’s side claiming silverware at the 2026 Engen Knockout Challenge Gauteng leg.

The Engen Knockout Challenge in Gauteng reminded everyone that it is the birthplace of South African football stars — Where Diski Legends Start — with Mamelodi Sundowns FC claiming the ladies’ Under-20 title and making them champions of the province after three exciting days of youth football at Wits Marks Park Stadium.
