Ambitious Zimbabwean champions Scottland FC are plotting a major transfer coup to land Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile, according to FARPost.

The Harare-based outfit are putting together a star-studded squad ahead of their maiden CAF Champions League campaign for the 2026/27 edition. They have already secured Malawian international defender Nickson Nyasulu from FC Platinum and have now turned their attention to Shalulile.

The 32-year-old Namibian international has struggled for regular game time at Chloorkop under head coach Miguel Cardoso.

Shalulile made just 13 league appearances, scoring three goals last season. Across all competitions, the forward featured 23 times and registered six goals, falling behind Iqraam Rayners and Arthur Sales in Cardoso’s pecking order.

With Shalulile’s contract at Sundowns officially expiring at the end of June, Scottland FC are enticing the veteran with a reported R4.1 million signing-on package to lure him to Zimbabwe in July.

Motsepe: What makes the Champions League rewarding

Sundowns chairman Tlhopie Motsepe has reflected on what makes winning the CAF Champions League more rewarding compared to the Betway Premiership, after the club finally clinched the continental trophy for the second time in their history last season.

Writing in the Chairman’s Letter in the latest issue of Sundowns Magazine, Motsepe broke down what makes the Champions League special.

Motsepe highlighted the gruelling logistical challenges that come with continental competition, noting that travelling across Africa with flights sometimes exceeding 13 hours takes a significant toll on the mind and body. But it is precisely those challenges that make the reward so special.

The chairman pointed to the emotional payoff of arriving in a distant country and being greeted by local people who recognise the Sundowns name as one of the most fulfilling aspects of the Champions League journey.

Bafana Bafana captain and Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has been tipped to break more records in the goalkeeping department of the national team, with South African legend Andre Arendse backing him to play into his 40s.

“I do believe that Ronwen can get close to that,” Arendse, who retired at 42, said, as reported by GOAL. “What’s most important for me is that he remains in love with the game; then we may see Ronwen breaking records until his 40s.”

Williams is currently on 66 caps for Bafana, just one behind Arendse’s tally, and is expected to equal that record when Hugo Broos’ side faces Canada in the World Cup Round of 32 on Sunday.
