Kaizer Chiefs youngster Mfundo Vilakazi has opened up about their fixture pileup this season as they challenge on both domestic and continental front.

Chiefs are busy this term with CAF Confederation Cup matches adding onto their PSL and cup commitments.

The Glamour Boys are in action on Wednesday night, when they take on Marumo Gallants in the PSL, having faced ZESCO United of Zambia in the Confederation Cup last Sunday.

That will be followed up by another meeting with ZESCO on Sunday, testing the depth of their squad, while injuries and fatigue are likely to kick in.

With little time on the training ground, Vilakazi says it now down to how they best utilise their big squad while players are prioritising good rest in between matchdays.

“Because of the AFCON break, there’s very little time between games, but as players we have to adjust to the situation and get on with it,” Vilakazi told the club’s website.

“As a player, I am just looking to help the team because everyone is going to have to contribute. I think the most important thing in these conditions is to get some rest between matches.”

The attacking midfielder was on the scoresheet when Chiefs beat Gallants 2-1 in April 2025 and is hoping that lightning strikes twice at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on Wednesday night.

“I believe that if we play our football, the results will come. It will be nice to get another three points away from home,” added Vilakazi.

“It (scoring away to Gallants) crossed my mind, and I think I’d like to do it again,” the 20-year-old attacking midfielder further stated.

Chiefs have so far played 22 matches in all competitions this season with Vilakazi featuring in 14 of them while scoring one goal.
