Mosimane’s advice to SA coaches after watching ex-Pirates star Munetsi at Wolves

South African renowned tactician Pitso Mosimane has given an advice to PSL coaches after watching Zimbabwean star Marshall Munetsi at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Joining an English Premier League team from Stade Reims on a mid-season deadline day transfer, 28-year-old Marvelous Munetsi has quickly made his mark.

In just three appearances, including two Premier League games and one FA Cup match, he's already contributed an assist in a 1-0 win against Bournemouth.

Despite being known as a midfielder, he's been playing as a number nine.

Inspired by Munetsi, Mosimane has argued that positional versatility is crucial for PSL players aspiring to international careers, suggesting that focusing on just one role can limit their overall growth and adaptability.

MOSIMANE SAYS PLAYERS SHOULD NOT BE LIMITED TO ONE POSITION

“I was watching Wolves playing Man United, I saw Munetsi the boy who was playing for Orlando Pirates and they used him as a midfielder but he was playing as a nine (for Wolves), as a striker,” Mosimane said on The Dan Corder Show on eNCA as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“It just shows that international football and local football are totally different. I was playing as a striker at Cosmos, Sundowns, suddenly when I went to Europe they put me as a winger.

Probably I didn't score enough or was not strong enough to be a nine.

“It's positioning, where the coach feels he can get the best out of you. We have the flair, we play well but as long as we don't have players in Ligue 1, La Liga, Primeira Liga, in the Premier League, Serie A… We can say we're good but we need players in that level because others will follow.”
