Nedbank Cup: Chiefs update on squad as Pirates’ Ncikazi concedes ‘it won’t be easy’

Kaizer Chiefs are in action on Saturday afternoon against Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final that will be staged at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The Buccaneers are chasing a three-peat, having won the competition in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 editions. However, they will be playing against a team that is desperate for silverware, having gone for a decade without one.

The Glamour Boys beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the semi-final to advance while the Buccaneers defeated Marumo Gallants by a solitary goal. Ahead of the match, the club's assistant coach Cedric Kaze has shared the latest regarding the Glamour Boys.

Amakhosi had Wandile Duba suspended for last weekend's Soweto Derby, while Inacio Miguel and Thabo Cele were not fully fit for the game. Have a look at what Nasreddine Nabi's assistant coach said ahead of the game.

‘Not easy to prepare playing against the same opponent'

“In this coming game we’re only going to have Duba who is coming back from suspension. Minus [Bradley] Cross, who is suspended from the last game. Either than that, you’ll have to find out on the field,” Kaze told the media.

Bucs assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has conceded it will not be easy, “It’s always not easy to prepare for an opponent that you’ve just played, especially when the result went in your favour. Because you are tempted to go with the same strategy and I can guarantee that their preparation will be different based on the outcome.

“Chiefs got some players who are coming from injury, which is a possibility that they might use like my fellow coach [Kaze] has indicated. They might be tempted to change the strategy. But what becomes important is to focus on your own strength, that you’re going to try and impose on the opponents.

“It’s a cup final, the history is not important, it’s whether you win it or lose it,” Ncikazi concluded.
