Orlando Pirates legend approves Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing – ‘A solid midfielder’

Orlando Pirates legend Benedict Vilakazi has approved the signing of midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu by Kaizer Chiefs from SuperSport United.

Chiefs snapped up the highly-rated midfielder from Matsatsantsa, who have sold their premiership status to Siwelele FC, and hope that he can add steel and bite in the middle of the park especially after the departure of Edson Castillo and the imminent exit of captain Yusuf Maart to Austria.

Ndlovu signed a three-year deal with Chiefs before linking up with the rest of the squad for their pre-season in the Netherlands and Vilakazi has given his seal of approval on the transfer.

The former Pirates star believes the 28-year-old will greatly elevate Chiefs as they did not have a player of his profile in their squad before his signing.

“They don’t have that kind of a midfielder [like Ndlovu],” Vilakazi said on iDiski TV.

“A player that hustles and provides good passes and creates a good movement. He’s also good at defending. He’s a solid midfielder and I think he can come in and add in that midfield especially if you can play him with [Thabo] Cele.

“They need somebody who is smart. So, he is good. I'm happy with Ndlovu let him go and assist the team because it’s been tough.”

Ndlovu became Chiefs’ sixth signing of the transfer window following the arrival of defenders Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, and Paseka Mako, midfielder Ethan Chislett, and forward Flavio Silva.

He made 28 appearances across all competitions for SuperSport last season and there is hope that he will form a key part of coach Nasreddine Nabi’s team.
