Pitso Mosimane spotted at Kaizer Chiefs’ base in Naturena, what’s cooking?

Veteran PSL coach Pitso Mosimane was spotted at the Kaizer Chiefs base in Naturena at the weekend, sparking speculation.

Mosimane has been without a job since leaving Iranian side Esteghlal FC in January 2025 and has been linked with a number of jobs in South Africa, including Chiefs and Bafana Bafana.

This month, the 60-year-old has been heavily rumoured to be in talks with his ex-club Mamelodi Sundowns over the possibility of replacing Miguel Cardoso who is under pressure over the style of play being displayed by the PSL champions.

Why was Mosimane at Naturena?

However, no deal has materialised yet and when Mosimane was spotted at Naturena at the weekend, there was some excitement among a section of Chiefs fans, given they have been calling for an experienced and serial winner like him to take over.

Chiefs fans will, however, be disappointed to learn that ‘Jingles’ was not at Naturena for contract talks but for personal reasons as he had come to watch his son who plays at the Chiefs academy.

According to The South African, Mosimane’s son Reatlegile plays for Chiefs U15 side and his father had come to catch a glimpse of him in action and also took the opportunity to mingle and chat with fans.

Reatlegile, who plays as a striker, is reportedly attracting interest from Italy and could be on the move soon if he continues banging in the goals.

Mosimane has kept himself busy with his Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools since leaving Iran and spends most of his time overseeing their operations as he waits for his next job.

The former SuperSport United coach left Sundowns in 2020 after an eight-year trophy-laden spell for Egyptian giants Al Ahly, where he spent two years, before heading to the Gulf, coaching in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Iran.

With his rich CV, which includes five PSL titles, three CAF Champions League crowns as well as various cup wins, Mosimane is a man in demand but it remains to seen the project that will entice him back to the dugout.
