Potsane reborn? Ex-Chiefs star tips winger to blossom under Nabi

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Isaac Mabotsa is backing winger Tebogo Potsane to come good after making a great cameo on his return to the side on Sunday.

Potsane made his first appearance for Chiefs on Sunday, when he came on as a substitute, as they lost 2-0 away to Polokwane City in the PSL but he was impressive on the pitch.

The attacker was among Chiefs players who left with some credit as he saw his well-taken shot hit the upright, having come close to scoring on his return, and there is hope that he will become more effective with more minutes in the legs.

Mabotsa impressed by Potsane’s output

Potsane has been hampered by injuries during his stay at Chiefs but Mabotsa feels he can turn around his career at the club if he continues to impress and make it hard for coach Nasreddine Nabi to drop him.

“To be honest, it is very important to use the minutes you get especially when you play for a club like Chiefs,” Mabotsa told Soccer Laduma.

“You always have to be positive and use your chance when you get it, whether it is five or 10 minutes. You need to make sure you go in there and make a difference.

Will the winger become a key player for Nabi?

“I was happy with his performance. When you don’t play, football forgets about you. I was surprised to see him in the team but to be honest, he played well especially because he had not played for a while.”

Mabotsa has lauded Potsane for working hard and putting himself in a good position for coach Nabi to select him, urging the winger not to relent.

“It means he has been working hard on his game. It shows he is still in the coach’s plans. If the coach didn’t want him at all, I don’t think he would have played him. I think it was all about his hard work. It paid off and he did well.”
