PSL club sack coach just days to Nedbank Cup final

In a surprising move, Nedbank Cup finalists TS Galaxy have parted ways with head coach Adnan Beganovic just over a week before the championship match.

The decision, reported by SABC, comes after a dismal run of nine losses in their last 10 PSL fixtures, prompting chairman Tim Sukazi to take action.

Beganovic successfully guided The Rockets to their second-ever Nedbank Cup final, where they are scheduled to face Durban City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on May 2. However, he will not be on the sidelines for the decisive game.

While the club has yet to release an official statement, speculation suggests that assistant coach and former Bafana Bafana striker Bernard Parker could be appointed as interim coach.

Why PSL side dismissed Nedbank Cup finalist

The team’s alarming league form has plunged them into a potential relegation battle. Although TS Galaxy are currently five points clear of the play-off spot and six ahead of automatic relegation, their recent performances have raised concerns.

With a critical match against fellow strugglers Magesi FC this Sunday, Sukazi has opted for a change in leadership. Beganovic, who was promoted from his assistant role in November 2024 to replace Sead Ramovic, managed to secure only a single point from the last 30 available—a draw against Stellenbosch FC.

TS Galaxy’s remaining league schedule includes challenging fixtures against Marumo Gallants, Chippa United, title contenders Mamelodi Sundowns, and Lamontville Golden Arrows, adding further pressure as they fight for survival and cup glory.
