Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has reacted to his side’s draw against Stade d’Abidjan in the CAF Champions League group stage clash.
The Buccaneers, who had earlier drawn their second group stage match against Al Ahly, were hoping for a victory in Abidjan.
Evidence Makgopa's penalty put them ahead, but Ousmane Mete's equaliser denied them the full three points.
While acknowledging the value of an away point, Riveiro made it clear that the team was aiming for more.
RIVEIRO’S FEELINGS ABOUT POINT AWAY FROM HOME
“Well it’s a point that gives us an opportunity to be leading the group at the moment,” said Riveiro after the game.
“Three games to still play in this group, plenty of opportunities for all the teams in involved, we came here with the intention to get maximum points.
“But there was an opponent also, who did many things very well, so if I think about the number of opportunities we didn’t use in the first 25 minutes of the game, maybe it makes me a little bit disappointed with the result.
“But overall, with the efforts of the opponent, and very difficult circumstances to play football – I’m not fully happy with a point but it’s a point away from home and everything is still fully in our hands.”
