Shots fired! Pirates aim sly dig at Chiefs over Nabi’s departure

Orlando Pirates have wasted no time in taking a swipe at bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs following the confirmation that coach Nareddine Nabi has no future at the club.

Chiefs confirmed that they are in talks with Nabi over a possible parting of ways following widespread reports on Wednesday that the two parties had agreed to sever ties.

The Glamour Boys also confirmed that Nabi will not be in the dugout when they face Angolan club Kabuscorp in the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round match on Saturday and Pirates have aimed a sly dig at their rivals.

Pirates choose ‘violence’ on Chiefs

Pirates posted a clip on social media which shows a caricature of Nabi carrying his suitcase as he waited at a bus stop before a black car then pulls up and picks him.

“Where are we going,” the driver of the car asks Nabi, who replies: “To the airport, please.”

The car, whose plate is written ‘Masende GP’ speeds off with Nabi’s legs appearing to hang in what was a brutal way of making fun of their rivals by Pirates.

Who will be in charge at Naturena?

Nasreddine Nabi and his Kaizer Chiefs coaching staff.

Chiefs now find themselves in a place where they have to look for a new tactician although Nabi’s assistants Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze are likely to be in charge as the club finds a coaching solution.

Pirates will hope to be one of the beneficiaries of the coaching changes at Chiefs as whoever comes in might want to do things differently which could affect their good start to the season, allowing rivals to close in and overtake them.

Chiefs are third on the PSL table with 13 points from six matches, three behind leaders Sekhukhune United, and four more than seventh-placed Pirates, who have played a game less.
