Snubbed by Broos, loved abroad! Lorch SOLD by Wydad Athletic Club

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates winger Thembinkosi Lorch has now completed his move to Libyan heavyweights Al-Ittihad Tripoli.

Afrik-Foot confirmed Lorch had reportedly agreed a mouth-watering deal to sign for Libyan moneybags Al-Ittihad from Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.

‘Nyoso,’ as he is commonly known, is the second player to be lured from Wydad by Al-Ittihad this month after the capture of Burkina Faso playmaker Stephane Aziz Ki, who completed his move this week.

Speculations had it that the 32-year-old had verbally agreed to sign for Al-Ittihad on a two-and-a-half-year deal that will see him earn $75,000 (R1.2 million) per month in Libya, six months after signing permanently for Wyad.

Lorch initially joined Wydad Casablanca on loan in the 2024/25 mid transfer season when Rulani Mokwena was at the helm. The winger, eventually signed a permanent deal at the beginning of the season.

He has been one of the best performers but still did not convince Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos to include him in his 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad.

However, that hasn’t stopped the likes of Al Ittihad from going for his services in their bid to strengthen their squad.

Wydad are reported to have sanctioned the move due to the big-money offer from the Libyan side plus the need to free up space in the team and the wage bill to allow for new signings who would then not have a lot of competition for game time.

The Moroccan giants are reportedly close to signing Bolivian Moises Paniagua and former Sevilla forward Wissam Ben Yedder while ex-Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech is looking forward to making his debut for the club in the second part of the season.
