Two PSL stars called up to Nigerian squad for AFCON qualifiers

Two PSL stars have been selected for the Nigerian national team's upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Super Eagles have appointed a new coach as they are looking to bounce back from a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign, which saw them draw against South Africa and lose to Benin.

Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are among the 23 players named by head coach Bruno Labbadia for the matches against Benin and Rwanda.

Following his impressive displays at 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, Nwabali has established himself as the first choice for the Super Eagles in goal.

On the other hand, Ndah hasn’t been part of the team for quite some time. He has two national team caps having been given his debut in 2021 by coach Gernot Rohr.

Nigeria will face Cheetahs of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, 7th September.

After that, they will fly to Kigali to take on the Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, 10th September.
