UPDATE: Will Lyle Foster return for Congo on Tuesday

Bafana Bafana's forward suffered an injury during the match against Congo Brazzaville. Here’s an update on the severity of his injury.

Shortly after netting his second goal in the AFCON qualifiers, the 24-year-old striker experienced a collision with the opposing goalkeeper, resulting in a knock.

He was subsequently substituted by Iqraam Rayners of Mamelodi Sundowns, who went on to score the fifth goal for Bafana in the game.

Initially, Foster's injury appeared to be serious, as he was carried off the field after lying down for some time while receiving first aid.

Following the match, Bafana's coach, Hugo Broos, stated that the injury was “nothing bad,” indicating that the former Monaco player had merely sustained a knock to his leg muscle.

His only concern was that Foster was unable to walk properly at that moment. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that the player would be fit to participate on Tuesday.

UPDATE ON THE INJURY OF LYLE FOSTER

“He had a knock on his leg, its nothing bad, but on the other side on the muscle. Now he can’t merely walk, we’ll see what it will be for Tuesday. Let’s hope our medical team has got some magic hands that he’s recovered for Tuesday,” said Broos.

“I’ve never seen Lyle sharp like he was today [against Congo]. I saw it on training this week, I went to him and said, ‘you’re sharp, keep that’.”

Broos indicated that if Foster is not prepared to participate in the match against The Red Devils on Tuesday, Rayners, who has served as the substitute, will assume his role.

“We have three days it’s not much, let’s see what happens in the next days. If we have to change, I can tell you now that I have full confidence in Iqraam [Rayners]. That guy when he will have to play on Tuesday, he will be ready,”
