Will Chiefs finally get their man? Agent claims star has been subjected to ‘unfair treatment’

Former Moreirense FC winger Kobamelo Kodisang has been struggling for game time since joining Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of the 2024/25 season.

The 25-year-old attacker signed a long-term deal with the Premier Soccer League champions, hoping to be a key player for the Brazilians. However, he has been overlooked initially by Manqoba Mngqithi and later on by the current tactician, Miguel Cardoso. He has played 13 games for Sundowns across all competitions, but still managed to score two goals and provide as many assists.

Beating the likes of Thapelo Maseko, Tashreeq Matthews, Lucas Ribeiro, and recently Themba Zwane – who has been out injured for a long time, has been a tough assignment.

Initially, Kaizer Chiefs had been linked with Kodisang, and even made contact, but the move did not materialize.

We will look at best possible options

Kodisang's agent, Mike Makaab, concedes his client is in an unfortunate situation despite being one of the talented players. He now hopes a solution will be reached to help the attacker realise his full potential.

“We are worried about Kobamelo Kodisang and his struggles for game-time because he’s a very talented footballer,” he said as quoted by FARPost.

“And I think he hasn’t been given a fair chance to compete for his position in the team, but we also understand that the players in his position are doing well, and the team is doing well. So we’re going to look at all the best possible options for his career because, as I said, he’s a talented player who should play regular football,” he concluded.

The Glamour Boys are still rebuilding despite winning the Nedbank Cup to end their decade-long trophy drought. Kodisang might be a valuable addition to the Soweto giants, of course if the involved parties decide to work together in the forthcoming 2025/26 season.
