Yusuf Maart pens emotional farewell after Kaizer Chiefs departure

Outgoing Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart has thanked both Amakhosi and Sekhukhune United for playing a major part in his career after his switch to Austria.

Maart completed his dream move to Europe on Tuesday when he joined newly-promoted Austrian Bundesliga side SV Ried and he has paid glowing tributes to both Sekhukhune and Chiefs.

“Firstly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the chairman and CEO of Sekhukhune United for believing in my talent,” Maart wrote in the letter shared by his agency P Management.

What has Yusuf Maart said in his message?

“Their unwavering support and the leadership opportunities they provided were pivotal in shaping not only my confidence as a player but also as a person. The lessons I’ve learned will stay with me forever.

“I would also like to thank the Chairman of Kaizer Chiefs and the entire management for entrusting me with the honor of wearing the armband. Leading one of the biggest and most prestigious teams on the continent is something I will always cherish and be proud of.

Maart has signed a two-year contract with SV Ried, with the option to extend for another one, and links up with the club after three years at Chiefs where he played 95 matches since joining from Sekhukhune in 2022.

The 29-year-old made his name at Sekhukhune before he joined Chiefs where he later established himself and became the club captain.
