Former Italy international and AS Roma legend Roberto Pruzzo has urged his former club to pursue Nigeria international Ademola Lookman.
The Rome-based club saw Romelu Lukaku leave following the end of his loan spell and have been strongly linked with a move for Atletico Madrid's Samu Omorodion and FC Metz's Georges Mikautadze.
The Daniele De Rossi-led side are also close to agreeing a deal with Rennes midfielder, Enzo Le Fee for a fee in the region of €20 million.
However, Pruzzo believes Lookman would be a better fit for the club than Le Fee, and is puzzled by the Frenchman's market value.
“Roma would need a Lookman-style striker, who can take the ball and skip past his man. The expense of more than €20 million for Le Fée, who might not even start, intrigues me a little,” Pruzzo told Radio Mattino as per Roma News.
The 69-year-old Roberto Pruzzo featured for AS Roma from 1978 to 1988, making 240 appearances and scoring 106 goals. During his illustrious career, he helped the club secure the Serie A title in the 1982/83 season and won the Coppa Italia four times.
Pruzzo's remarkable goal-scoring prowess earned him the Serie A top scorer award on three occasions and the Coppa Italia top scorer award once. He also represented the Italian national team in six matches.
Is Atalanta exit imminent for Ademola Lookman?
Lookman's stock has significantly risen following his heroics in the Europa League final, where his hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen secured Atalanta their first European title.
Speculation is rife regarding the 26-year-old's future as the talented forward has been linked with several top clubs.
In recent weeks, English Premier League giants Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool, alongside Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, have all shown interest in the Atalanta star.
Valued at €60 million by La Dea, Lookman's potential exit from Atalanta has garnered significant attention.
As clubs vie for his signature, the possibility of the 26-year-old leaving Italy appears increasingly imminent.
