What Akor Adams said after Sevilla’s draw against Rayo Vallecano

Published on by

Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has expressed his disappointment following Sevilla’s 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, Afrik-Foot reports.

Adams added to his season’s tally at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, netting the opening goal for Sevilla against the visiting Vallecano.

While he had several other decent looks at goal, he was unable to convert them. Ultimately, Los Nervionenses were held by a Vallecano side that has now found the back of the net in each of their last seven outings.

The result leaves both teams tied on 31 points after 27 La Liga fixtures this season. Despite achieving a career-best ten goal involvements in a top-five European league, Adams cut a frustrated figure after the final whistle.

While pleased to be on the scoresheet, he maintained that the team’s failure to secure all three points overshadowed his personal milestone.

Akor Adams’ Post-Match Reaction

Sevilla are currently navigating a difficult season, and while the point moved them up to 14th in the table, a victory would have catapulted them to 12th—providing a vital eight-point cushion above the relegation zone.

”I think every point is important at this stage of the season, and we work hard to get them,” Adams said post-game.

“We got a point, but there are many things to work on and improve to reach our goal of taking all three.”

”Yes, we’re glad to have taken something, but not entirely satisfied. I take responsibility; there were situations where I could have put us further ahead. We will work on that and be better next time.”

The Nigerian’s strike was his seventh of the campaign, ensuring he remains the club’s top scorer. However, he was quick to prioritize collective success over individual accolades.

”For me, the most important thing is winning with Sevilla. I work hard every day to win matches. Scoring goals is my job, but at this stage of the season, it doesn’t matter if Kike or Lucien scores—we just need points. Regarding the seven goals… I think I should have more. I’m grateful, but I’m not satisfied right now.”

Sevilla now turn their attention to a daunting trip to the Camp Nou to face Barcelona. Adams, who scored in the reverse fixture to help his side claim a 4-1 victory, will be eager to replicate that performance and secure a crucial win.
