The summer transfer window is in full swing, and several Super Eagles stars are at the heart of the action, according to Afrik-Foot.
While some Nigerian players have already secured moves, others are still weighing their options as the window progresses.
Meanwhile, a handful of Super Eagles players are currently out of contract and searching for new clubs. In this article, we look at five of these players to determine whether they might be suitable fits for teams in Serie A or La Liga.
Joe Aribo

Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Southampton. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester City, but with his deal now expired, he has yet to be linked with any specific club, making his next destination difficult to predict.
Unfortunately, the midfielder’s career has seen a significant downward trend over the last two years. Combined with the fact that he turns 30 this month, he is a less attractive prospect for clubs in Europe’s top five leagues. Consequently, a move to Serie A or La Liga appears unlikely.
Peter Olayinka

The 30-year-old is a free agent after departing APOEL Nicosia, where he registered three goals in 16 appearances across all competitions. Despite his efforts, he was not offered a contract extension and is now looking for a new challenge.
It is highly improbable that Olayinka will join a top-five league, given that he has spent the majority of his career in Albania, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Serbia, and Cyprus. Although he has been linked with Erzurumspor, no concrete developments have emerged.
Henry Onyekuru

Henry Onyekuru, 29, is also on the market for a new club. He recently left Genclerbirligi after both parties mutually agreed to terminate his contract.
Onyekuru endured a difficult campaign last season, failing to record a single goal or assist in 16 appearances. As it stands, there is no transfer speculation surrounding the former Everton and Monaco man.
It would be a major surprise if he were to secure a move to any of Europe’s top five leagues, as his market value has declined significantly.
Josh Maja

One-cap Super Eagles striker Josh Maja is another free agent this summer after parting ways with West Bromwich Albion following a three-year spell. Unfortunately, his time at the club was hampered by recurring injuries, though he still managed to contribute 19 goals and three assists in 81 appearances.
While Maja’s stock has fallen since his peak years, at 27, he remains a worthwhile gamble. When fully fit, he is a significant attacking threat; his primary challenge, however, remains his physical durability. Given his potential, he could still command interest from Championship clubs, but his next move remains uncertain.
